Next Tuesday, everyone in Australia will be required to spend time filling out the census.Described as "probably the most progressive census Australia has ever seen", the 2026 census will include questions on religion, gender identity and sexual orientation.
So why is it important for the government to collect information like this and much more?
This week, Ben and Anoushka speak to social researcher Dr Rebecca Huntley about the importance of the census and how collecting accurate info can help to set future policies in Australia.
And they talk to some Gen Zs about the laws and policies they’d like to see enacted in the future.
