Ruth Lopez is a US citizen and her parents are legal residents, but they're all worried about getting caught up in the ICE raids taking place across the country.
Raids by the US’s Immigration and Customs and Enforcement Agency (ICE) have increased this year, and many innocent people have been caught up in them. Ruth Lopez and her family are all legal residents but she’s worried about what’s happening.
Newsworthy’s Patricia Byrnes spoke to the 19-year-old about how she and her family are feeling right now, what happened on a recent trip to Oklahoma and her hopes for the future.
“I'm personally scared just because of the color of my skin. Because my last name is Lopez. It is not an American last name,” she says.
