Escaping Afghanistan: Farzad's dangerous journey

Just two days after the Taliban took control of Kabul, Afghanistan, Farzad Rooein received a call from an unknown number. Realising his life was in danger, he fled the country.

But the now 29-year-old's journey to safe asylum in Australia was marked by danger and heartbreak.

  

"When I reached Iran. I tried to call to my colleagues. When I called, I heard that many of my colleagues, they are in prison in Taliban jail. And they are torturing [them]."
